You are bidding on this rare, circa 1828, wood Clarinet that was purchased from a old Estate Sale along with some other early Instruments - Items (SEE OTHER AUCTIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE- Click on smaller Pictures to enlarge them). The Clarinet is marked at the top & bottom sections, "J & H MEACHAM ALBANY". It looks to be made of boxwood, with ivory ferrules, and has 5, brass Keys (2 are partially broken). The largest ivory piece has a crack in it while the Bell has some chips/wear around the edge and is missing the ring on the end (see pictures for close-ups). It has some old tape, on the ends, to help fit them together. Their is a small crack in the wood, at the top, and some surface wear throughout it with a nice, old patina. The mouthpiece has some wear, with no Id marks on it, and is stuck (I'm not trying to force it out). This piece came out of a old House in Chambersburg, Pa and is approx. 24" long, with the mouthpiece. Unique, old Clarinet that will make a great addition to any collection.
